- Up to 80 million people worldwide struggle with an eating disorder

- Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses-- about 20% of its victims die

- 78% of 18 year old girls are unhappy with their bodies

- 40-60% of high school girls diet

- 81% of 10 year olds are afraid of being fat

- 42% of 1st-3rd grade girls desire to be thinner

- Health consequences such as osteoporosis and gastrointestinal complications become significant throughout life if eating disorders are not treated appropriately

We hope that people will be able to come to the same realization we have (without dealing with an eating disorder first!): We only live once so we must live it right. It is so much more fun to enjoy going out for ice cream with friends than to go running by yourself as punishment for eating an apple. Life really is worth living!
