Leslie Jordan Garcia

Community Care Facilitator

Leslie believes that healing to wholeness is a birthright of all people. While all recovery journeys are unique, they all require a kind of care and common unity that can only be created within a community.

Leslie is passionate about Project HEAL because it aligns perfectly with her mission to challenge and dismantle the societal systems that oppress and force individuals to the margins based on their body size, shape, and color and so often lead to eating disorders.

In addition to her work as a facilitator for the Community Care Program, Leslie runs Liberati Wellness, her Body Liberation coaching and consulting practice. Her work centers around the pillars of social justice, intersectionality, and decolonized fitness and wellness practices, and guides clients in deep exploration and growth that embeds liberatory practices into their daily lives so that they are empowered and experiencing life on their terms, with more joy and freedom.

Leslie holds dual master's degrees in Business Administration and Public Health, is a multi-certified wellness professional, including a Certified Holistic Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer, and Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach. Her career has spanned healthcare, education, and nonprofit leadership roles. She currently sits on the board of directors for the Me Little Me Foundation as well as for the Greater Austin YMCA. She has recently presented at the Houston Eating Disorder Conference, the BIPOC Eating Disorder Conference, and the Weight Inclusive Nutrition and Dietetics Conference.

Leslie's favorite ice cream flavor is a testament to her belief in enjoying life's pleasures -peaches and cream!
