Ali Hougnou, Director of Volunteer Services

Ali has been a huge supporter of Project HEAL, throughout her own recovery process, since its inception in 2008. As a former Project HEAL Chapter Leader and high-level volunteer, she has a lot of insight into the day-to-day volunteer needs, as well as the needs related to the long-term success and growth of our volunteer base.

Prior to joining the Project HEAL team as a full-time staff member, Ali spent two years working as a Staff Associate for the NYU Child Study Center, a mental health and research focused outpatient center within the NYU Langone Medical Center and NYU School of Medicine’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Throughout those 2 years, Ali gained significant skills in areas including, psychological assessments, intakes, billing services, electronic medical records, care coordination, case management (e.g. insurance authorizations), and administrative skills.

Ali has a strong background and interest in the study of eating disorders, as well as obesity and plans on applying to PhD programs in clinical psychology within the next couple of years. Recently, Ali became certified as a facilitator and trainer of the Body Project and is excited to bring the program to many of our Chapters. She is very passionate about her work and has been featured within outlets including the Dr. Oz Show, NBC News, ABC4 Utah, and more. With over 5 years of volunteer services experience, over 2-years of clinical experience, 4-years of research experience, and over 6 years of social media management experience, Ali brings a wide-range of knowledge and skill sets to the Project HEAL team that she is always eager to utilize and share.
