Donna M. Friedman, M.S. is the founder of the MUSC Friedman Center for Eating Disorders at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is an internationally recognized advocate for the needs of victims of eating disorders and she speaks on the subject in many different forums. She is a past member of the Board of the International Academy for Eating Disorders where she is the first person in its history to serve as the Patient/Career representative, nominated and elected for this position in 2013. In that capacity, she has served as the Board liaison for the Patient/Career Committee and the Advisory Board.
Having received her BA in Political Science from the College of Charleston, Donna went on to receive her MS in Clinical Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. In 2016, she was invited to serve on the International Advisory Board for the Global Mental Health Program at Columbia University.
For many years, Donna has assisted patients to find proper treatment, and in 2016 she helped to establish the first Evidence-Based Eating Disorder Treatment program in the State of South Carolina at MUSC which bears her name.
She is in private practice in Mount Pleasant, SC. Donna is a mother of four, wife and Clinical Psychologist. She resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.
