Gretchen Gerwe Welch

Gretchen Gerwe Welch is a retired diplomat with significant involvement with community, non-profit and educational institutions. In her Foreign Service career she served in Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UK, and held numerous senior positions in Washington. Gretchen graduated from Stanford University in 1978 with a degree in International Relations, and earned a postgraduate diploma in Asian Art from SOAS at the University of London in 2016, studying Islamic, Chinese and Japanese and Korean art.  Gretchen loves museums and is currently a docent at the Dumbarton Oaks Museum and Research Center in Washington.  Gretchen’s favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip.
