Leader: Jessica barker
Jessica Barker resides in Richfield, Minnesota and is the Founder and Chapter Leader of the Project HEAL – Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter.
Jessica is a graduate student in the Integrated Behavioral Health Program at the University of Minnesota and a graduate research assistant at the Minnesota Center for Eating Disorders Research. Her 16+ year career in mental health has included clinical and research work with various populations, but found her true calling in eating disorders research. Her specific research interests are in the role of exercise and movement in the etiology, maintenance and treatment and ethics of mental health treatment.
As a Project HEAL Chapter Leader, Jessica is dedicated to furthering awareness of the need for increased research in eating disorders and helping people who are affected by eating disorders find the treatment that fits their needs and empowering individuals to become active participants in their own recovery. She takes special pride in helping individuals who have struggled to become advocates and volunteers in the eating disorders field.
She is passionate about practice based research and research based practice and helping others find joyful ways to move their body as a fitness and yoga instructor.
When she isn’t busy with graduate school and Project HEAL, she can often be found traveling the world or sitting on her sun porch with her two cats.
Jessica’s favorite dessert is Panera’s cinnamon scone.
