Healing Together: Reflections on a Year of Showing Up
Dear community,
As this year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on responsibility. Namely, our shared responsibility to show up for one another. To use what we have – be it our resources, our voice, or our trust – to help someone find their footing and imagine what comes next.
This year, we continued to show up: to fund treatment, and help people build a life beyond their eating disorder. We know that treatment can open the door, but recovery depends on what happens next, and families are typically left to navigate it all alone. Healing is sustained through food on the table, a way to get to appointments, stability after discharge, and through the people who continue to show up.
Together, we…
Supported more than 3,000 people nationwide
Delivered 9,000+ services
Created access to more than $9.2 million in life saving eating disorder care
Asking for help is a risk, and every person we served had the courage to take it. We trained clinicians, provided scholarships to treatment, and addressed the practical realities of recovery, so every person had the chance to heal. Thank you for sharing that responsibility with us and being part of what makes care possible – we couldn’t have achieved this without you.
With two days left in the year, there’s still time to act with intention. If supporting recovery in practical, lasting ways feels aligned, our Giving Tree offers one way to do that. Your gift helps make sure recovery doesn’t stop once treatment does.
A little goes a long way:
$25 for gas to reach appointments
$100 for a month of medication copays
$250 for a month of groceries
Together, we can build a world where asking for help means finding it. Will you join us?
With gratitude,
Akiera Gilbert
